AuthPoint is Now Available as Monthly Subscription

Starting this week, we are excited to offer our partners and customers AuthPoint as a monthly subscription in the WatchGuard FlexPay program.

WatchGuard FlexPay enables partners to purchase products according to their business needs. The FlexPay program includes all our payment options: pre-paid annual licenses, pay-as-you-go MSSP Points, and monthly subscriptions. 

The AuthPoint Subscription is invoiced monthly based on usage. As a software product, it is easy to enable and manage both through the distributor marketplace and in WatchGuard Cloud. The steps for partners to enable are simple:

  1. Place an order on a distributor marketplace for an AuthPoint Subscription License that is a $0 SKU and complete checkout
  2. Add/manage AuthPoint users in WatchGuard Cloud at next login (the license will already be auto activated with no allocation limit)
  3. WatchGuard will issue invoices through the distributor on the 1st of each month for the total active Subscription users across the partner's cloud account hierarchy

Currently, AuthPoint monthly subscriptions are available in the U.S. through SYNNEX. We are working with our distribution partners around the world to bring this option to broader geographic markets.

AuthPoint MFA is now available for Windows UAC prompts

The new Agent for Windows v3.1 now includes MFA protection for Windows UAC (User Account Control) prompts. When a user tries to perform an action that requires administrative privileges, such as allowing an app to make changes to the device, the UAC prompt now requires the user to authenticate with MFA in addition to providing their password.

Incorporating MFA into our Windows UAC workflow is a proactive step towards fortifying our security posture and safeguarding our critical assets from potential threats, including benefits like:

  • Heightened Security
  • Mitigation of Credential Theft
  • Compliance Requirements
  • Reduced Risk of Insider Threats

Protected Windows Resources: Here are just a few examples of Windows resources that can now be safeguarded by UAC with AuthPoint MFA:

  • Security and maintenance settings
  • Install and uninstall applications

Configure Windows to require credentials for UAC: For the AuthPoint Agent for Windows to enforce MFA for UAC prompts, the computer must be configured to require credentials for UAC prompts.

The installer is available on the Downloads page of your AuthPoint account. You can install it on new machines or upgrade existing ones using the same deployment method as the previous agent versions, manually or silently, with any software distribution tool of your preference.

AuthPoint Application Portal Extended Support for Internet Explorer

On February 15th, a new version of the AuthPoint Application Portal was launched, with a new design and security enhancements, including end of support for Internet Explorer.

As a request from customers who were not able to upgrade their Microsoft environment to meet the requirements, we are reverting this change to extend the support of Internet Explorer with our Application Portal and Office365 SAML. This also has changes to the look and feel of the Application Portal.

We strongly recommend customers who still use Internet Explorer or are on the scenarios mapped on this Help Center article, to upgrade their environment. Meanwhile, Internet Explorer will still be supported.

Keeping our systems and technologies up to date is essential in our development and operations to guarantee our customers' security. Microsoft and most of the technologies used in WatchGuard products no longer support Internet Explorer, even for security updates.
