AuthPoint Gateway now supports EAP-MSCHAPv2 for IKEv2 VPNs

The AuthPoint Gateway now supports EAP-MSCHAPv2, the authentication method used by many IKEv2 remote-access VPNs. Some third-party firewalls forward EAP-MSCHAPv2 to the Gateway unchanged, which the Gateway could not process before, so those VPN logins failed. The Gateway now detects the request type automatically and handles both EAP-MSCHAPv2 and the plain MSCHAPv2 it already supported. Just upgrade to this new version - there is nothing to configure and no change to the interface, and existing deployments keep working as before.

This lets MSPs and their customers standardize on AuthPoint for MFA even where the VPN runs on a non-WatchGuard firewall. You keep one place to manage users and policies, with no second MFA product to run alongside it.

If your customers use WatchGuard Fireboxes, the direct integration with AuthPoint is still the better choice. It doesn’t need an on-premises RADIUS server, it lets you apply policies based on the user’s IP address or location, and it uses a more secure protocol than RADIUS. The RADIUS path is meant for devices that have no native integration.
