Introducing the WatchGuard Agent
WatchGuard is expanding the foundation of our Unified Security Platform with the introduction of the WatchGuard Agent; a unified software agent built to streamline endpoint operations and consolidate multiple services under a single installer. This release advances how partners and customers deploy, manage, and scale WatchGuard security capabilities. Instead of relying on separate, product-specific agents, the WatchGuard Agent consolidates them into a single, modular package.
The initial release supports Endpoint Security, Managed Detection and Response, FireCloud, and ThreatSync NDR collectors. The WatchGuard Agent runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, though individual products and components vary by operating system (for more information, consult the WatchGuard Help Center).
The WatchGuard Agent is built for operational efficiency. It is lightweight, auto-updating, and configurable, allowing administrators to enable or disable components at the device or organizational level. All management flows through WatchGuard Cloud for consistent oversight and control.
How It Works
Deployment requires a single installation. Administrators activate only the necessary components, and updates flow automatically in real-time, reducing exposure windows. WatchGuard Cloud provides a unified view of health, status, and security posture across all deployments.
Key Benefits
- A single installer supports the full WatchGuard product portfolio (coming soon)
- Automatic, centralized updates keep all products and components current
- Unified visibility in WatchGuard Cloud simplifies tracking and management across environments
- Feature expansion becomes frictionless, with new capabilities activated instantly
Why It’s Different
Many agents in the market are large, rigid, and resource-intensive. The WatchGuard Agent uses a modular architecture that activates only the components selected by the administrator, minimizing footprint and improving performance. This approach accelerates deployment, simplifies setup, and reduces infrastructure demands while making WatchGuard services more adaptable.
Roadmap
This release centers on endpoint, FireCloud, MDR, and NDR. The following phases add AuthPoint through the AuthPoint logon app, extend network security through HTTPS-inspection certificate deployment, and introduce VPN and SSO support. By the end of 2026, the WatchGuard Agent will underpin the full WatchGuard portfolio, providing all software components for network, endpoint, and identity capabilities.
