AMA Networks Keeps Clients Protected Against Modern Cyberthreats with a Unified Security Approach

Challenge 

As a rapidly growing managed services provider (MSP) based in San Diego, AMA Networks supports small and midsize businesses across North America, with a focus on compliance-driven organizations like CPA firms and insurance agencies. As cyberattacks became more sophisticated, AMA’s customers faced rising risks from ransomware, phishing, and zero-day threats. 

Many turned to AMA to relieve the burden of managing these complex risks and to gain better visibility into their security posture. However, most brought an assortment of legacy security tools that were difficult to manage and left dangerous visibility gaps. 

AMA was up to the challenge, but as it grew, it knew it needed to deliver a more unified and automated approach, one that would strengthen protection for its clients across endpoint, identity, and network layers without adding complexity.

Already familiar with WatchGuard through its firewall solutions, AMA knew the platform was easy to use and could help streamline operations while improving client security. The Passport bundle combines EPDR (Endpoint Protection, Detection and Response), AuthPoint multi-factor authentication, and DNSWatch for comprehensive endpoint, identity, and DNS-layer protection. Success in Action: Ransomware Rescue

When the parent company of an AMA client suffered a RansomHub ransomware attack, AMA was called to help. The attack was launched after an employee opened a phishing email; its existing endpoint solution raised an alert, but no one responded, and the infection spread.

AMA quickly flew on-site and deployed a WatchGuard Firebox M270 and EPDR to help contain the situation and restore secure operations. This solution automatically detected, quarantined, and isolated the ransomware within seconds. In a follow-up lab test, EPDR detected the same threat instantly with no manual action required and provided AMA with full telemetry to confidently demonstrate to the client how the ransomware had entered.

“Watching EPDR stop and isolate the ransomware immediately gave us and the organization complete confidence,” says Amir.
