About Passport Licenses

WatchGuard offers several Cloud services that are licensed per user or endpoint. The Passport license bundle is a convenient way to purchase user licenses for multiple subscription security services in a single bundle.

Passport includes licenses for:

  • AuthPoint
  • DNSWatchGO
  • Panda Adaptive Defense 360 or WatchGuard Endpoint Protection Defense and Response (EPDR)

When you purchase a Passport license, you choose whether you want the Passport bundle to include endpoint licenses for Panda Adaptive Defense 360 or WatchGuard EPDR. You can only choose one of the two products. The difference between these two products is where you manage them.

  • WatchGuard EPDR — If you choose WatchGuard EPDR, you manage your license, endpoints, and operators in WatchGuard Cloud.
  • Panda Adaptive Defense 360 — If you choose Panda Adaptive Defense 360, you manage your licenses, computers and users in the Panda platform. If you are a partner, licenses will be managed from Partner Center.

WatchGuard EDR Core is included in the Firebox Total Security Suite. It is available for a limited number of endpoints, based on the Firebox model. With a Total Security Suite subscription license, you will see an EDR Core license in WatchGuard Cloud. You can use WatchGuard Cloud to manage EDR Core endpoint allocation and to access the Endpoint Security management UI. For information on EDR Core features, go to WatchGuard EDR Core Features.

Passport License Activation Options

When you activate a Passport license, it automatically activates the individual product licenses for AuthPoint, DNSWatchGO, and either Panda Adaptive Defense 360 or WatchGuard Endpoint Protection Defense and Response (EPDR).

If you already have an active license for one of the Passport products, you have several options when you activate a Passport license. Within the activation process, you can:

  • Add users to a license
  • Extend a license
  • Add a new license (Service Providers only)

If you choose to add users or extend a license, a new expiration date for the combined license is calculated based on the updated user count and term length of the license you activated.

For example, if you have an active AuthPoint license for 50 users that expires in 30 days and you activate a 1 year Passport license for 100 users:

  • If you choose to extend the existing license, after activation you have:
    • An AuthPoint license for 100 users that expires in 380 days
    • A DNSWatchGO license for 100 users that expires in 365 days
    • A Panda Adaptive Defense 360 or WatchGuard Endpoint Protection Defense and Response for 100 endpoints that expires in 365 days
  • If you choose to add users to the existing license, after activation you have:
    • An AuthPoint license for 150 users that expires in 254 days
    • A DNSWatchGO license for 100 users that expires in 365 days
    • A Panda Adaptive Defense 360 or WatchGuard Endpoint Protection Defense and Response for 100 endpoints that expires in 365 days

Manage Licenses

You can activate and manage product licenses on the WatchGuard website in the Support Center. From Support Center, on the Manage Products page, you can view the activated licenses for your account. For more information on how to manage licenses in the WatchGuard website, go to Manage Devices and Licenses at WatchGuard.com.

After activation, the only indication that a product was activated as part of a Passport license key is the WGPSP prefix that appears when you view the license for that product on the Manage Products page.

To learn how to activate a license, see Activate a DNSWatchGO or Passport License.
