Activate a DNSWatchGO or Passport License

DNSWatchGO and Passport licenses are activated in the WatchGuard Support Center. You can activate a license key on the Activate Products page. On the product page you can see the current licenses and trial licenses associated with your account.

If you have a Passport license, you only need to activate the Passport license once to activate the licenses for all Passport products. For more information about Passport licenses, see About Passport Licenses.

After your initial license activation, you have several options for how to use additional licenses. In the activation process, you can:

  • Add users to an active license
  • Extend an active license
  • Add a new license (service providers only)

Initial License Activation

The license activation process is different the first time you activate a license. Follow the steps in this section to activate a license key for the first time.

If you have an active license, or if you are a Service Provider with an active trial, follow the steps in the next section.

  1. Go to https://www.watchguard.com/ and log in to the WatchGuard Support Center with your WatchGuard account user name and password.
  2. On the Support Center Home page, select My WatchGuard > Activate Products.
    The Activate Products page appears.
  3. Type or paste your license key.
  4. Click Next.
  5. If this is the first license you have activated and you do not have an active trial, you are prompted to name your license. Type a name for your license to help you identify your license on the WatchGuard website and in WatchGuard Cloud. If you are a Service Provider, this name helps you identify the licenses in the container.
  6. Click Activate.
The Activation is in Progress page appears.

Your license is now active and the users on this license are automatically allocated to your account. If you activated a Passport license, the users are allocated to your account for all products purchased.

If you are a Subscriber with an active trial, when you activate your first license it replaces your trial license. The trial ends and your new license becomes active effective immediately. Your new license inherits the name of your trial license.

The remainder of your trial is not added to the expiration date of your new license.

Activate Additional Licenses

If you have an active license, when you activate new license keys in the Support Center they are used to modify the current active license (add users or extend the license). If you have an active AuthPoint or DNSWatchGO license, when you activate a Passport license, the action you choose applies to all active licenses.

If you are a Service Provider, you can choose to modify an active license or add a new, separate license.

  1. Go to https://www.watchguard.com/ and log in to the WatchGuard Support Center with your WatchGuard account user name and password.
  2. On the Support Center Home page, select My WatchGuard > Activate Products.
    The Activate Products page appears.
  3. Type or paste your license key.
  4. Click Next.
  5. (Service Providers only) On the Step 2: Add Product Details page of the activation wizard, from the drop-down list, select the name of the license you want to extend or add users to, or enter a license name to add a new license.
    Additional fields appear.

Only Service Providers can have multiple active licenses. Subscribers do not see this page in the Activate a Product wizard.

  6. Click Next.
  7. Select Add Users to add users to your license or select Extend License to extend the renewal date for your license. If you have a Passport license, the action will apply to all active licenses. When you make a selection, the Change Summary shows your updated user count and license expiration date.

When you choose to extend your license, your user count is updated to match the number of users on the license you purchased.

  8. Click Activate.
The Activation is in Progress page appears.

Your license is now active and the users on this license are automatically allocated to your account.
