Start a Trial

The trials available for an account you manage in WatchGuard Cloud can depend on the licenses installed and any trials already completed. Accounts with an existing term or subscription license can start these 30-day trials:

  • If you have WatchGuard EPP, you can start a trial of WatchGuard EPDR or Advanced EPDR.
  • If you have WatchGuard EDR Core, you can start a trial of WatchGuard EPP, EDR, or EPDR or Advanced EPDR.
  • If you have WatchGuard EDR, you can start a trial of WatchGuard EPDR or Advanced EPDR.
  • If you have WatchGuard EPDR, you can start a trial of WatchGuard Advanced EPDR.
  • If you have WatchGuard Advanced EPDR, you cannot start a trial of another endpoint security product.
  • If you have AuthPoint Multi-Factor Authentication, you can start a trial of AuthPoint Total Identity Security.

Your operator role determines what information you can see and the actions you can take within your own account or managed accounts. Only operators with Owner or Sales roles can start a trial. For more information, go to Manage WatchGuard Cloud Operators.

As a tier-1 Service Provider, you can allocate inventory for delegated tier-1 Subscriber accounts. You can also start a trial for a tier-1 Subscriber account and allocate inventory from the trial product.

To add a trial, from WatchGuard Cloud:

  1. From Account Manager, select Overview.
  2. Select Administration > Trials.
  3. Select the tab for the product you want to start a trial for.

  1. In the Account Name column, next to the account you want to start the trial for, enable the toggle to start the trial for an account.
The Add Trial dialog box opens.

  1. From the Product list, select the product you want to evaluate.
  2. If this is a trial for an endpoint security product, from the list of modules, select the check box for each endpoint security module you want to evaluate.
The Advanced Reporting Tools is recommended with the WatchGuard Endpoint Risk Assessment. For more information, go to WatchGuard Endpoint Risk Assessment.
  3. Click Add.
The Status column changes from Never Tried to In Progress. The 30-day trial period begins when you add the trial license to an account. When a trial expires, all endpoint security product trials are unavailable for 90 days. If an EDR Core license is activated during a trial, the trial is not canceled.

The trial can take up to two minutes to become available.

  • Select Monitor > Endpoints or Configure > Endpoints to open the management UI for your endpoint security trial product.
  • Select Configure > AuthPoint to open the AuthPoint management UI.

After you start an endpoint security trial, you can install the client software on up to 250 endpoint devices. If the account has an existing license (for example, WatchGuard EDR Core, EDR, or EPP) for more than 250 endpoints, then the trial license includes a maximum number of endpoints that matches the existing license. For example, if the existing license has 300 endpoints, then the trial license includes 300 endpoints. The trial does not add endpoints to the total number of endpoints in the product license. If the existing license is unlimited, then the trial license includes unlimited endpoints. A restart is required on the endpoints to update to the trial product.

When you have an endpoint security product license, you can also start a trial of these modules:

  • Advanced Reporting Tool — Available with WatchGuard Advanced EPDR, WatchGuard EPDR and WatchGuard EDR
  • Data Control — Available with WatchGuard Advanced EPDR, WatchGuard EPDR and WatchGuard EDR
  • Full Encryption — Available with all endpoint security products
  • Patch Management — Available with all endpoint security products
  • WatchGuard MDR — Available with WatchGuard Advanced EPDR, WatchGuard EPDR and WatchGuard EDR

The number of licenses for a module trial is limited to the number of devices you have allocated endpoint security licenses for.

Module trials are not available with EDR Core.

To end a trial, from WatchGuard Cloud:

  1. From Account Manager, select Overview.
  2. Select Administration > Trials.
  3. Select the tab for the product you want to end a trial for.

  1. In the Account column, disable the toggle for the account you want to end the trial for.
The End Trial dialog box opens.

  1. Click End Trial.
When a trial ends, all product trials are unavailable for 90 days.
