Disable FireCluster
Applies To: Locally-managed Fireboxes
If you no longer want your Fireboxes configured in a cluster and want to break the cluster, you can disable and remove the FireCluster configuration and return the Fireboxes to standalone devices.
When you disable FireCluster, the cluster master reboots and the device keeps its current configuration. The other cluster member reboots with factory-default settings.
Caution: Both cluster members reboot at the same time. We recommend that you plan this procedure during a time of low network traffic to avoid disruption.
To disable the FireCluster configuration and remove the FireCluster:
- In WatchGuard System Manager, open the configuration for the cluster master.
- Click
.
Or, select Tools > Policy Manager. - Select FireCluster > Configure.
The FireCluster Cluster Configuration dialog box appears. - Clear the Enable FireCluster check box to disable FireCluster.
- Click OK.
- Save the configuration to the Firebox.
The configuration is saved and both devices in the cluster reboot.
- The device that was the cluster master restarts with the same IP addresses that were assigned to the cluster.
- The device that was the backup master restarts with the default IP addresses and configuration because it resets to factory-default settings.
Remove a Single Cluster Member
You can also remove one member from the cluster without disabling the FireCluster feature. This results in a cluster with only one member, but does not disable FireCluster or cause a network interruption.
The removed cluster member becomes a standalone Firebox device.
