Verify the Installation
Applies To: WatchGuard Advanced EPDR, WatchGuard EPDR, WatchGuard EDR, WatchGuard EDR Core, WatchGuard EPP
You can use these tools to verify installation of the Endpoint Security software across the managed network:
Protection Status Tile and Computer Protection Status List
The Protection Status tile shows computers where Endpoint Security is working properly and computers with errors or problems installing or running the product. For more information, go to the appropriate topic:
- Advanced EPDR Security Dashboard
- WatchGuard EPDR Security Dashboard
- WatchGuard EDR Security Dashboard
- WatchGuard EDR Core Security Dashboard
- WatchGuard EPP Security Dashboard
When you click the Protection Status tile, the Computer Protection Status list opens. This list shows all computers on the network, with filters to show computers and mobile devices that are unprotected for a specific reason.
When an account with an active EDR Core license (trial or commercial) upgrades to an Endpoint Security product (for example, EDR or EPDR), the affected endpoints show in the Endpoint Security management UI without a license. You are prompted to assign the new license to the affected endpoints from the Licenses list.
Event Viewer Application Log (Windows computers)
The Application log in the Windows Event Viewer provides detailed information about the result of the installation of the agent on the user computer and how it works when it is installed.
For more information, go to Verify Installation in the Event Viewer Application Log.
Your operator role determines what you can see and do in WatchGuard Cloud. Your role must have the Add, Discover, and Delete Computers permission to view or configure this feature. For more information, go to Manage WatchGuard Cloud Operators and Roles.
Verify Installation on a Specific Computer
- In the management UI, select Computers.
- Select the computer you want to verify installation for.
The computer details page opens. - Select the Details tab.
All information collected from the computer is shown, along with the installation status. - In the Security section, review the status of the various modules:
- Installing...: The installation process is incomplete or there has been an error. Wait a few minutes.
- Enabled/Disabled: After a few minutes, if the installation has been successful, the status of the protection modules shows.
Detect and Resolve Installation Errors
If, after a few minutes, the Security section is no longer visible from the computer details page, it is because the security software did not install correctly. Verify this:
- If you installed the security software manually, make sure the user computer does not show any error messages.
- Verify whether the computer appears in lists. For more information, go to Manage Computers and Devices in Endpoint Security.
- Check the Event Viewer on the user computer. For more information, go to Verify Installation in the Event Viewer Application Log.
- Verify the user computer meets the requirements specified in Installation Requirements (external link). Update the product or operating system version if required.
