Accounts, Operators, and Roles

Applies To: WatchGuard Cloud

WatchGuard Cloud is a multi-tenant, multi-tier system. Accounts, operators, and roles are the building blocks of the system, and along with account groups, can be used to enable or restrict access to different feature areas and products.

Accounts

In WatchGuard Cloud, there are Subscriber accounts and Service Provider accounts. Your account type determines whether you can manage other WatchGuard Cloud accounts, which operator roles you can assign to users in your account, and how you manage operators for your account.

For more information, go to About WatchGuard Cloud Account Types

Operators

Users who can log in to WatchGuard Cloud to view and manage account information and configure services are called operators. For more information, go to Manage WatchGuard Cloud Operators and Roles.

Operators are separate from licensed users of a WatchGuard product or service. They do not require a license and can only log in to WatchGuard Cloud. You must create a separate user account for any operator who uses a product or service such as AuthPoint or Endpoint Security.

Roles

Your operator role determines what information you can see and what actions you can take in your own account or managed accounts. Based on your permissions, some pages could show as read only.

There are different operator roles for Subscriber accounts and Service Provider accounts. For more information, go to Manage WatchGuard Cloud Operators and Roles.

For information on granular role-based access control (RBAC) for functional areas of the WatchGuard Cloud user interface, go to Manage Custom Operator Roles.
