About Trials in WatchGuard Cloud

Applies To: WatchGuard Cloud

For information on trials you can start from www.watchguard.com, go to About Free Trials on the Product Details Page.

On the Administration > Trials page in WatchGuard Cloud, you can start free trials for:

  • AuthPoint
  • CloudDR
  • Compliance Reporting
  • Endpoint Security products and modules
  • FireCloud
  • ThreatSync Open
  • WatchGuard NDR
  • WatchGuard SaaS DR

Service Providers can start trials for their account and accounts they manage. Tier-1 Subscriber operators with the Administrator or Analyst role can start a trial.

Only a tier-1 Service Provider account can allocate inventory for delegated Service Provider and tier-1 Subscriber accounts. They can also start a trial for a delegated account and allocate inventory from the trial product.

To start an evaluation of FireboxV, go to Products > Virtual Appliance Evaluations at www.watchguard.com. When you activate a FireboxV evaluation, the device is eligible for a free trial of the Total Security Suite. For more information on the services available with the Total Security Suite, go to About Free Trials on the Product Details Page.

To trial or use FireCloud Total Access, your company address must be in compliance with US Export Administration Regulations. If you cannot start a trial or allocate FireCloud Total Access, contact WatchGuard Customer Care.

Trial licenses are valid for 30 days only. When the trial expires, you cannot start another trial for the same product. WatchGuard Cloud saves the settings in the trial product or module for 90 days after the trial expires. If you convert a trial license to a term license, all settings in the trial license transfer to the term license.

Trial licenses include 250 users or endpoints. For WatchGuard NDR trials, customers can have up to two unique networked devices (workstation, mobile, IP phone, server, camera, or other IOT device) per licensed user. WatchGuard NDR will monitor networked devices up to two times the number of users in the license. For example, if your trial license is for 250 users, WatchGuard NDR will only monitor network traffic for up to 500 unique devices.

For Endpoint Security product trials:

  • If the account has EDR Core (Total Security Suite) with fewer than 250 endpoints, then a trial for an Endpoint Security product such as Endpoint Security 360 includes a maximum of 250 endpoints.
  • If the account has EDR Core (Total Security Suite) with more than 250 endpoints, then a trial for an Endpoint Security product such as Endpoint Security 360 includes a maximum number of endpoints that matches the Total Security Suite license.
  • If the account has an existing Endpoint Security product such as Endpoint Security Prime for fewer than 250 endpoints, then the trial includes a maximum of 250 endpoints.
  • If the account has an existing Endpoint Security product such as Endpoint Security Prime for more than 250 endpoints, then the trial includes a maximum number of endpoints that matches the product license.

For example, if the existing license has 300 endpoints, then the trial license includes 300 endpoints. The trial does not add endpoints to the total number of endpoints in the product license. If the existing license is unlimited, then the trial license includes unlimited endpoints. A restart is required on the endpoints to update to the trial product.

If an EDR Core license is activated during a trial of Endpoint Security Basic, WatchGuard EDR, Endpoint Security Prime, Endpoint Security 360, or Endpoint Security Elite, the trial is not canceled.

Accounts with an existing term or subscription license can start these 30-day trials:

  • If you have Endpoint Security Basic, you can start a trial of Endpoint Security 360, or WatchGuard Endpoint Security Elite, or Endpoint Security Prime.
  • If you have WatchGuard EDR Core, you can start a trial of Endpoint Security Basic, WatchGuard EDR, Endpoint Security 360, or Endpoint Security Elite. The EDR Core license becomes inactive in WatchGuard Cloud.
  • If you have WatchGuard EDR, you can start a trial of Endpoint Security 360 or Endpoint Security Elite.
  • If you have Endpoint Security Prime, you can start a trial of Endpoint Security 360 or Endpoint Security Elite.
  • If you have Endpoint Security 360, you can start a trial of Endpoint Security Elite.
  • If you have Endpoint Security Elite, you cannot start a trial of another endpoint security product.

No existing license or trial is required to start a trial of WatchGuard NDR, WatchGuard SaaS DR, or WatchGuard Compliance Reporting. We recommend that you enable ThreatSync before you start a trial of WatchGuard NDR or WatchGuard SaaS DR. For more information, go to Quick Start — Set Up WatchGuard NDR and Quick Start — Set Up WatchGuard SaaS DR (Microsoft 365).

We recommend that you have a trial or license of WatchGuard NDR before you start a trial of Compliance Reporting.

When you have an endpoint security product license, you can also start a trial of these endpoint security modules:

  • Advanced Reporting Tool — Available with Endpoint Security Elite, Endpoint Security 360, Endpoint Security Prime, and WatchGuard EDR
  • Full Encryption — Available with all endpoint security products
  • Patch Management — Available with all endpoint security products
  • Data Control — Available with Endpoint Security Elite, Endpoint Security 360, Endpoint Security Prime, and WatchGuard EDR, in certain countries only
  • SIEMFeeder — Available with Endpoint Security Elite, Endpoint Security 360, Endpoint Security Prime, and WatchGuard EDR
  • Orion — Available with Endpoint Security Elite, Endpoint Security 360, Endpoint Security Prime, and WatchGuard EDR
  • 1-Year Data Retention — Available with Endpoint Security Elite, Endpoint Security 360, and Endpoint Security Prime

Endpoint Security Basic, WatchGuard EDR, Endpoint Security Prime, Endpoint Security 360, and Endpoint Security Elite trials activate the same number of endpoints for endpoint security modules.

For information on Core MDR, go toAbout Managed Services with WatchGuard MDR.

Endpoint Security module trials are not available with EDR Core.
