WatchGuard is implementing IPv6 support for XTM in stages, aligned with adoption patterns among our customer base. WatchGuard Fireware XTM has been granted the IPv6 Ready Gold logo (routing). Current XTM functionality allows IPv6 addressing on external-facing interfaces and allows the device to pass traffic in a mixed IPv4 and IPv6 environment as well as acting as a DHCPv6 client and/or server. Security features include both stateful firewall functionality (basic filtering and policies and default threat connection) and next-generation firewall (NGFW) functions such as Application Control and IPS. FireCluster clustering and user authentication are also enabled for IPv6 environments. IPv6-in-IPv4 tunnels are supported, as are routing table management protocols including OSPF and BGP.
Future releases will incorporate full UTM Security Services (such as Gateway Anti-Virus, Spamblocker, Webblocker, and Reputation Enabled Defense), other forms of transition tunneling, branch office VPN, mobile user VPN, and transparent and drop-in mode.
Business decision makers and IT professional alike need to know what IPv6 is going to mean to network functionality and the corporate bottom line.
