A year in reviews

It’s always good when independent reviewers who spend their time studying and comparing what’s on the market rate our products.
That’s the case with reviewers at ITPro - one of the UK’s leading computing websites. In February this year, ITPro reviewed our WatchGuard Firebox M290 and gave it a five-star Editor's Choice award. The headline was ‘Stiff security at a great price’ and the reviewer said that ‘The Firebox M290 delivers an incredible range of gateway security measures priced right for SMBs.’
The review concluded with: ‘The Firebox M290 is an attractive choice for SMBs; it combines a superb range of security measures and delivers them at a sensible price. We found it easy to deploy and configure, with WatchGuard’s Cloud portal providing excellent remote management and monitoring features.’
Later in the year, our mid-range WatchGuard Firebox M590 also achieved a five-star Editor Choice award, describing the M590 as a powerful mid-range UTM appliance with top-notch security features at a sensible price. The review highlighted the benefits of WatchGuard Cloud and said that ‘Deployment is cinch’, adding “it offers a wealth of enterprise-grade security services at a very competitive price and the choice of local or cloud management makes it equally well suited to mid-range businesses and enterprises needing to protect distributed remote offices.’
For smaller businesses, the WatchGuard Firebox T40-W completed the hat trick with our third five-star Editor’s Choice review. The T40-W was described as, ‘A powerful desktop security appliance with classy remote monitoring and configuration services.’
The review highlighted its performance, with a 1GHz quad-core CPU and 4GB of DDR4 RAM, providing (based on our figures) a high raw firewall throughput of 3.4Gbits/sec and 300Mbits/sec with the AV, IPS and application control services enabled.
The most recent review is the WatchGuard Firebox T20-W review, which was described as ‘an affordable desktop appliance is a great choice for protecting small offices and home workers.’
The reviewer liked the cloud management and zero-touch deployment with WatchGuard’s RapidDeploy service, saying, ‘once you register a new appliance with your support account, you can assign it a configuration file created from a local Firebox appliance. When the appliance is plugged in at the remote site, it grabs the file from your account and instantly starts providing protection.’
