WatchGuard Drives Adoption of Enterprise UTM with Speed, Performance and BYOD Security

Subhead
New XTM appliances and WLAN access points take centre stage at Infosec

Body

23 April 2013 - At Infosecurity Europe, WatchGuard® is featuring its new range of Xtensible Threat Management (XTM) products to meet the growing demand for high-performance, integrated security solutions from large enterprises. And with more companies adopting bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies for a more mobile and productive workforce, WatchGuard is also be featuring two new wireless access point products, giving users the same level of security for WLAN traffic as traditional fixed network traffic.

As businesses and enterprises of all sizes – from SMEs to major corporates – battle against the increased severity and complexity of cyber threats, WatchGuard’s new XTM 1520, 1525 and 2520 models offer defence in depth with best of breed security tools from the likes of Websense, AVG, and Broadweb, combined with unmatched performance and ease of manageability, all in a single device. With WatchGuard’s RapidDeploy function, the XTM appliances can be pre-configured, eliminating the need for IT security professionals to travel to the deployment site for installation.

“Historically, UTM performance limitations have kept adoption limited to small and midsized businesses,” said Dave Taylor, VP of Corporate Strategy at WatchGuard Technologies. “But with these latest high-performance XTM appliances, the benefits of a single integrated security solution are now available to large enterprises.”

Also featured at Infosec will be the new WatchGuard AP100 and AP200 Wireless Access Points allow customers to accurately and easily apply security policies and changes to both wired and WLAN environments simultaneously. With Smartphones and tablets now accounting for about 25 percent of devices used for work and growing amounts of corporate data stored on personal devices, the new wireless access point products provide advanced unified threat management features such as IPS, application control, WebBlocker and spamBlocker for WLAN traffic. And with unified management tools, customers can configure and manage their Wireless Access Points and XTM device from a single console.

WatchGuard will also be demonstrating its latest range of Extensible Content Security (XCS) solutions for small and mid-sized businesses. The new XCS 280 and XCS 580 models provide small and mid-sized organizations with a powerful suite of content security functionality, including email security, web security and data loss prevention. These solutions provide the most effective defence from email and web-based threats, including spam, viruses, malware, URL filtering, blended threats, spyware and network attacks, and block 98 percent of threats and spam at the network perimeter.

WatchGuard’s director of security strategy, Corey Nachreiner, is presenting ‘Securing networks in a virtual, cloudy world: Virtualisation best practices’ in the Technology Theatre at 16.30 on Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th.
