WatchGuard Technologies celebrated 20 years of protecting IT networks, data and applications at its Northern Europe Partner Day last week, hosted at the landmark Twickenham Rugby Stadium. Since pioneering the security appliance in 1996 with the launch of first signature red Firebox, WatchGuard has deployed over a million multi-function threat management appliances worldwide. The company now has almost 500 employees in 15 countries and a partner network of over 100 distributors and 9,000 active VARs.
The celebrations were marked by a Partner Awards ceremony, including special recognition for resellers who have been with WatchGuard since the beginning, with the UK Founding Partner Award presented to Wakefield-based Sec-1.
Receiving the award, Dave Ashton, sales manager at Sec-1 said, “From the very start, WatchGuard was committed to the channel, with technology that offered true USPs and great support. Who we work with has always been really important to us and 20 twenty years on, those core values of market-leading technology backed by a reliable, friendly and approachable team still remain. The current technology set is very exciting, with fast and scalable appliances at a compelling price point, along with new secure Wi-Fi, APT and Web Blocker solutions. Sec-1’s success has been built – in a large part – on our relationship with WatchGuard over the last two decades and with the energy and drive behind the current WatchGuard executive team, we look forward to a very positive future.”
Other awards presented at the event included Rockford IT for Partner of the Year; IML for Innovative Partner of the Year, Platinum Computing for New Partner of the Year; 365iT for Marketing Programme of the Year; Wick Hill for Distributor of the Year, MTI with Petroc College for End User Project of the Year; and Personality of the Year was awarded to Barry Mattacott from Wick Hill.
"Twenty years is a major milestone for any company in a fast moving, aggressive industry and WatchGuard’s success is a testament to the hard work of our partners, our 100% commitment to the channel and the continuous innovation from our research and development teams to deliver leading-edge products to address new threats and changing network architectures,” said Jonathan Whitley, Regional Director for Northern Europe at WatchGuard. “Our mission remains to bring widely-deployable, enterprise-grade security to small-to-medium sized organisations and distributed enterprises with the help of our partners.”
