Configure the Hotspot Custom Page

If you selected the Custom Page hotspot type, when users connect to your hotspot, the hotspot custom splash page that you configure appears. This is a web page that shows the terms and conditions users must agree to before they can use the hotspot. You can configure the connection settings for hotspot users, the text that appears on the splash page, and the appearance of the page. You can also redirect hotspot users to a specified web page after they accept the terms and conditions.

When you select the Custom Page hotspot type, you must configure the connection settings, the Page title, and the Terms and Conditions. All other settings are optional.

Before you begin, you must Enable a Hotspot.

Specify Connection Settings

When you configure the hotspot custom splash page, you must specify whether users can connect automatically or if they must authenticate with user account credentials provided by the Guest Administrator. If you select to allow users to connect automatically, you can specify the amount of time users cannot connect to the hotspot after their sessions time out. If you require users to provide credentials, you can select whether they must supply user names and passphrases, or only passphrases. You can also specify the maximum number of guest user accounts that the Guest Administrator generates.

  1. From the Hotspot Type drop-down list, select Custom Page.
    The Hotspot Connections tab appears.
  2. Select a user authentication option:

If you disable the hotspot feature, or change the hotspot connection method, all current guest user accounts are removed.

Manage Guest Administrator User Accounts

The Guest Administrator is a role on your Firebox or XTM device that you can use to allow users to connect to the device only to manage the list of guest user accounts that can connect to the hotspot. You can add, edit, and delete Guest Administrator user accounts. You can manage the list of Guest Administrator user accounts from either the Users and Roles page, or from the Hotspot Connection tab. The Guest Administrator accounts that you add on one page automatically appear on the other page. On the Hotspot Connection tab, you can only manage Guest Administrator user accounts. Guest Administrator user names are case sensitive.
