Manage the Firewall Policies Page in WatchGuard Cloud
Applies To: Cloud-managed Fireboxes
On the Firewall Policies page, you can use Page Settings to customize how you view your policy list, and use policy tags and filters to organize and sort the list. Page settings, tags, and filters do not change which traffic a policy allows or denies, and they do not change policy priority.
Your operator role determines what you can view and do in WatchGuard Cloud. Your role must have the Devices permission to view or configure this feature. For more information, go to Manage WatchGuard Cloud Operators and Roles.
Page Settings
You can customize how you view your Firewall Policies page with Page Settings. There are two main view styles: Widget and Table. By default, the policies list shows in widget view.
To customize how you view the Firewall Policies page, from WatchGuard Cloud:
- Select Configure > Devices.
- Select the cloud-managed Firebox.
- Click Device Configuration.
- Click the Firewall Policies widget.
The Firewall Policies page opens. - Click Page Settings.
The Page Settings side panel opens.
- To show system policies in the policies list, enable Show System Policies.
- Select how you want to view the policies list: Widget or Table.
- To view policy attributes as icons and text, enable Icons with Text. To view policy attributes only as text, enable Text Only.
- Select the attributes you want to view for each of these groups:
- Traffic: Select the traffic attributes you want to view on the policy widget or in the table. To change the order of where the attributes show on the widget or table, drag the attribute to a new position within the group.
- Policy Tags: Enable the check box to show the policy tags applied to each policy.
- Settings: Select the attributes you want to view on the policy widget or in the table. To change the order of where the attributes show on the widget or table, drag the attribute to a new position within the group.
- Traffic Data: Select the attributes you want to view on the policy widget or in the table. To change the order of where the attributes show on the widget or table, drag the attribute to a new position within the group.
Page settings are automatically saved at the user level and remembered when you log in.
Policy Tags
A policy tag is a custom label you apply to firewall policies to help you organize those policies into manageable groups. Tags do not appear in configuration reports or history and do not require deployment to take effect.
You can apply more than one tag to a policy, and you can apply the same tag to many policies. After you create a tag, you can apply it to other policies from the list of existing tags. When you create a tag, you can assign it a name and a color.
You can rename or delete a tag. When you rename or delete a tag, the Firebox continues to allow or deny the same traffic for that policy.
To add a policy tag to a firewall policy, in WatchGuard Cloud:
- On the Firewall Policies page in the widgets view, click Edit Policy Tags. In table view, click the edit icon in the Policy Tags column.
The Policy Tags side panel opens.
- In the text box, enter a name for the tag, or choose an existing tag from the drop-down list.
- To specify a color for the policy tag, select a color from the color drop-down list.
- To add the tag to the policy, click the add icon.
The added tag appears on the policy.
Policy Filters
A policy filter narrows the policies that appear on the Firewall Policies page. You can filter by one or many attributes. Filters only change which policies show in the list; they do not change policy order.
To filter the firewall policies list, in WatchGuard Cloud:
- On the Firewall Policies page, click the filter icon.
The Filter Policies side panel opens.
- Select filters from these groups:
- Tag
- Type
- Action
- Traffic
- SD-WAN
- Settings
- Advanced
- Traffic Data
Filter settings are automatically saved at the user level and remembered when you log in.
To configure firewall policies, including how to open the Firewall Policies page, go to Configure Firewall Policies in WatchGuard Cloud.
