Monitor Clients

In Manage, the Monitoring > Wi-Fi > Clients tab displays the clients that are connected to your APs.

When you select a client, the information related to the selected client appears on multiple pages. You can select a page number to view more details related to the client.

1 — Properties, Association History

2 — Traffic

3 — Average Data Rate, Retransmission Rate

4 — Seen By, Recently Probed SSIDs

5 — Events

This table provides a description of the client properties:

View Client Properties

Select a client to view the client properties. You can edit certain client properties. Double-click the property to edit its value.

View Association History

In the Association History, you can view a list of APs and ad hoc networks to which the client was associated. APs and ad hoc network details such as the AP/Ad hoc Network Active/Inactive icon, AP Name/Ad hoc ID, SSID, Last Detected At (which shows the date and time, or present when the association is currently active) are displayed. The criteria for recent association is either 12 hours or the total number of APs/Ad hoc Networks (this is the total number of associations and not per device). The total number of associations maintained by the system depends upon the number of connected devices.

View Client Traffic

The Traffic section displays authorized clients only. The device that sees the client reports data traffic sent and received by the client every 15 minutes. The channel rotating device spends only a percentage of the total time on any given channel. This parameter typically underestimates the actual traffic by a factor equal to the total number of channels scanned by the device radio. For example, if the device scans 30 channels in all, the measured traffic would be 1/30th of the actual traffic. However, if there is burst traffic, straightforward scaling cannot be easily applied.

View Client Average Data Rate

The Average Data Rate section is displayed for authorized clients only. The device that sees the client tracks the transmission rates of the data frames in the client's BSS and reports the weighted average transmission rate.

View Client Retransmission Rate Trend

The Retransmission Rate widget is displayed for authorized clients only. You can select the time duration and view a graphical representation of the client retransmission rate trend over the selected time duration.

View Devices Seeing Client

In the Seen Bysection, you can view the active devices that detect the selected client. The name of the device and the RSSI of the device are displayed in this section. This section is populated for all types of clients.
