Access Point Allocation

Applies To: WatchGuard Cloud-managed Access Points

Access points activated by a Service Provider appear in the Service Provider Inventory in WatchGuard Cloud. As a Service Provider, you can allocate devices to your own account or any account you manage. After you allocate an access point to a subscriber account, the device appears on the list of devices you can add to that account.

You allocate devices from the Inventory page in the Service Provider view of WatchGuard Cloud. The Overview page for your Service Provider account shows you an overview of the users and devices in your inventory. In the Overview page, the Access Point Overview section shows this information:

  • Next License Expiration — Indicates the date when the next access point license expires
  • Unallocated Access Points — Number of unallocated access point in your account
  • Allocated Access Points — Number of access point currently allocated to a managed account
  • Total Access Points — Total number of access point in your account

When you allocate an access point to an account, you specify an allocation expiration date. Set the allocation expiration to any date that helps you manage the business relationship with your customer. The allocation expiration date does not affect the operation of the access point , and is not related to expiration of the access point license subscription. When the allocation expires, the access point continues to operate with full functionality. For more information, see About Wi-Fi in WatchGuard Cloud Access Point Licenses.

To deallocate a access point, on the Allocation Details page, click Deallocate Access Point.

Allocate the Access Point to a different account

This action deallocates the access point from the original account, and allocates it to an account you specify.
