Import or Export WebBlocker Actions

If you want to use the same WebBlocker settings on several Fireboxes, you can export WebBlocker actions from one Firebox and import them to other Fireboxes. Import and export is available in Policy Manager only.

Export WebBlocker Actions

When you export WebBlocker actions, the Firebox saves the selected actions in XML format to a text file. The default location for the exported file is:

\users\<username>\Documents\My WatchGuard

To export WebBlocker actions, from Policy Manager:

  1. Select Subscription Services > WebBlocker > Configure.
The WebBlocker Actions dialog box appears.

  2. Click Export.
  3. Select the location where you want to save the file.
  4. Type a name for the file. Click Save.

Import WebBlocker Actions

When you import WebBlocker actions, you must specify whether to replace an existing WebBlocker action on the Firebox when the imported file includes an action with the same name. You can select from two options:

Replace

All actions in the selected file are imported and added to the list of existing actions. If a WebBlocker action on the Firebox has the same name as an action in the imported file, it is replaced by the imported action.

Append

If the selected file does not include a WebBlocker action with the same name as an action on the Firebox, all actions in the file are imported and added to the list of existing actions.

If the selected file includes a WebBlocker action with the same name as an action on the Firebox, the import fails and no actions are imported.

If an imported WebBlocker action uses an on-premises WebBlocker Server that is not configured in the WebBlocker global settings on the Firebox, the imported action is automatically converted to use the WebBlocker Cloud for category lookups.

If you import a WebBlocker action to a Firebox that uses an earlier version of Fireware OS, WebBlocker features that are not supported in that Fireware version are not available.

To import WebBlocker actions, from Policy Manager:

  1. Select Subscription Services > WebBlocker > Configure.
The WebBlocker Actions dialog box appears.
  2. Click Import.
  3. Select the text file to import. Click Open.
If there are existing WebBlocker actions, you are asked whether you want to replace the existing actions or append the imported actions.
