WatchGuard Technologies Hires New CEOSeattle, WA - April 18, 2007. WatchGuard Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of security appliances and unified threat management (UTM) solutions, announced today that Joe Wang has been named President and chief executive officer. “We have been searching for a candidate that had a strong track record for growing technology companies, and Joe fits this profile. His track record is impressive. We believe he has the right mix of management and technical skills to meet our objectives for substantial growth for WatchGuard over the longer term”, said Ben Ball of Francisco partners. Wang comes armed with over two decades of software and management expertise. He was previously the CEO of LANDesk Software, where he grew sales from under $40 million to over $100 million in four years. Other previous positions include vice president and general manager of Symantec’s Enterprise Administrative Division, and CEO of 20/20 Software, Inc., a company that he led from its inception to a growing and profitable concern. “Joe’s vision, energy, and leadership were the key ingredients in the success of LANDesk Software”, stated Alex Slusky of Vector Capital. “We are delighted to partner with him again in building WatchGuard into a market leader.” Commenting on his appointment, Wang said, “I am excited and honored to be part of the WatchGuard organization and look forward to working with its people and building a successful business. WatchGuard has a long history of developing security appliance solutions and will continue to be an innovation leader for years to come.” Wang replaces outgoing interim-CEO Bruce Coleman. Coleman was brought on immediately after WatchGuard was acquired by private equity firms Francisco Partners and Vector Capital on October 4, 2006. His presence was always intended to be temporary.
