WatchGuard Lands New VP of Engineering

Sin-Yaw Wang to Drive Global R&D and Engineering Efforts for WatchGuard Security Solutions

SEATTLE – April 9, 2010. WatchGuard® Technologies, a global leader of business security solutions, today announced that it has snapped up industry veteran Sin-Yaw Wang to lead WatchGuard's product development functions.

"Acquiring Sin-Yaw Wang is a major step in bringing the next generation of security solutions to market and continuing WatchGuard's leadership position among UTM vendors."

Sin-Yaw Wang has more than 20 years engineering and development experience with a proven track record of managing large and diverse groups to build and deliver innovative, high quality, market-leading products. Prior to joining WatchGuard Sin-Yaw Wang was Vice President of the Operating Systems Technologies group at Juniper Networks where he was in charge of JUNOS kernel technologies, user interface, configuration management, data path architecture, and development tools.

Prior to this, Wang was with Sun Microsystems, Inc. for eight years, most recently as Vice President of Global Engineering, Greater China Engineering Lead, in Beijing, China where he led more than 350 engineers, cultivated community adoption of Sun's technologies, and provided strategic assistance for field activities. Wang represented Sun's engineering presence in Greater China, forging strategic relationship with government, universities, customers, and partners. He also initiated and managed M&A and joint venture activities.

Wang has an MBA and a MS/EECS from Santa Clara University, a Master of Technology in Manufacturing from Arizona State University. He graduated from Tamkang University, Taiwan, with a BSME degree.
