VPNs allow users with varying degrees of trust to access corporate resources. Consider which type of access is appropriate for a given type of user. For example, you might have a group of contract employees you want to restrict to just one network while granting your sales force access to all networks.
Different VPN applications may also determine your level of trust. Branch office VPNs, because they have a firewall device at both ends of the tunnel, are more secure than MUVPN and RUVPN, which are protected at only one end. And branch office VPNs involve devices with static IP addresses while the addressing of remote users' and telecommuters' workstations is generally dynamic.
