Network Configuration

This chapter explains how you can use a single authorized IP address on the Firebox to represent and protect a wide variety of private networks and/or hosts. Whether you have a single network behind the Firebox, a few networks, or a jumble of disjointed networks and random addresses assigned to specific hosts, the WatchGuard approach can assimilate them all into a Firebox-compatible network configuration.

WatchGuard accomplishes this versatility through several configuration concepts that are explained in this chapter:

  • Simple networks
  • Proxy ARP (address resolution protocol)
  • Multiple networks
  • Sub-netting
  • Secondary networks
