Reset the WatchGuard AP Device

You can reset the WatchGuard AP device to factory-default settings with these methods:

  • Reset the AP device from the Gateway Wireless Controller
  • Press the reset button on the AP device
  • Unpair an AP device
  • Disable automatic deployment for automatically deployed AP devices
  • Reset the AP device from the Access Point local web UI

An AP device with factory-default settings cannot accept tagged VLAN traffic. If you reset an AP device that has management VLAN tagging enabled, the Firebox cannot automatically rediscover and pair with the AP device on the tagged VLAN. Reset the WatchGuard AP Device from the Gateway Wireless Controller

To reset the AP device from the Gateway Wireless Controller, your Firebox must run Fireware v11.11.4 or higher.

Reset the WatchGuard AP Device with the Reset Button

The reset procedure you can choose depends on the firmware version on your AP device or your AP device model.

Unpair the WatchGuard AP Device

When you unpair the AP device from a Firebox, the AP device restarts with factory-default settings. The power LED on the AP device alternates from green to amber when the device is unpaired.

Reset Automatically Deployed WatchGuard AP Devices

Automatically deployed AP devices are reset to factory-default settings if you disable the Automatic Deployment feature.

Reset the WatchGuard AP Device from the Access Point Web UI

To reset the AP device from the Access Point web UI (AP100, AP102, AP200, and AP300 only):

  1. Log in to the WatchGuard Access Point web UI.
  2. From the left navigation menu, select Status.
    The Access Point Status page appears.
  3. Click Reset to Factory Defaults.
