Before you enable spamBlocker, you must have:
- A spamBlocker feature key — To get a feature key, contact your WatchGuard reseller.
- POP3 or SMTP email server — spamBlocker works with the WatchGuard POP3 and SMTP proxies to scan your inbound email. You must configure at least one POP3 or SMTP proxy before you can configure the spamBlocker service. If you have more than one proxy policy for POP3 or for SMTP, spamBlocker works with all of them.
- DNS configured on your Firebox — From Fireware Web UI, select Network > Interfaces. In the DNS Servers list, add the IP addresses of the DNS servers your Firebox uses to resolve host names.
From Policy Manager, select Network > Configuration. Select the WINS/DNS tab and type the IP addresses of the DNS servers your Firebox uses to resolve host names.
- A connection to the Internet
In Fireware v11.12 and higher, Fireware supports IPv6 for proxy policies and subscription services. spamBlocker uses IPv4 to connect to the signature update server. If your Firebox is configured for IPv6, you must configure the external interface with both an IPv4 address and an IPv6 address.
