Add a Custom Logo to the IPSec Mobile VPN Client

You can add a custom logo, such as your company's branded logo, to the IPSec Mobile VPN client. You can also remove the Tips of the Day from the client.

To add a custom logo to all IPSec Mobile VPN clients in your company, add the logo to a client on your administrator computer, and distribute the updated Mobile VPN Client to your users.

Your custom logo must be one of these sizes:

  • At least 24 pixels high and exactly 328 pixels wide, at 96 DPI
  • 29 pixels high and exactly 404 pixels wide, at 120 DPI

You must have administrator permissions on your computer to complete these procedures.

Add a Custom Logo

To add a custom logo to the WatchGuard IPSec Mobile VPN Client, on the administrator computer where the client is installed:

  1. Close the Mobile VPN Client.
  2. Open the installation folder for the client.
    The default directory location for the installation folder on a Windows computer is: C:\Program Files\Watchguard\Mobile VPN.
  3. Find the cbo.sam file and change the name to cbo.ini.
  4. Open the cbo.ini file in a text editor.
  5. Find the Picture= line and add the file path for your logo to that line. Tip!The logo must be at least 24 pixels high and exactly 328 pixels wide at 96 DPI, or 29 pixels high and exactly 404 pixels wide at 120 DPI.

  1. Save the file. If an Access Denied error appears:
    1. Save the file to your desktop or another folder on your computer.
    2. Delete the original file from the installation folder.
    3. Copy the new file from your desktop to the installation folder.
  2. Start the client.
    The new logo appears at the bottom.

  1. Distribute the updated Mobile VPN Client to your users. For example, you can use a package builder tool to build an installer package file. You can deploy the package to multiple users through Windows Server Group Policy, or another tool.

Remove the Tips of the Day

To remove the Tips of the Day, on the administrator computer where the client is installed:

  1. Close the Mobile VPN Client.
  2. Open the installation folder for the client.
    The default directory location for the installation folder on a Windows computer is: C:\Program Files\Watchguard\Mobile VPN.
  3. Find the Tips folder and delete it.
  4. Start the client.
    The area above the Statistics section is now blank.
