Q: Why do I need a Firebox® SOHO 6 Wireless appliance?
A:
Wireless devices are increasingly affordable, but are open to many vulnerabilities. A personal wireless firewall protects mobile or remote laptop users from data interception and snooping and from those who piggyback on wireless connections for free Internet access. Firebox® SOHO 6 Wireless models are ideal for telecommuters who want a wireless solution that also supports multiple wired devices, and are ideal for network administrators who want to remotely manage wireless users. Users who have been waiting for a solution that allows them to enjoy the convenenience of wireless networking with the highest level of security will find the features they want in Firebox® SOHO 6 Wireless appliances.

Q: How are Firebox® SOHO 6 Wireless models different from other wireless solutions?
A:
Most other wireless firewall products support at most one wireless connection and one wired connection. Firebox® SOHO 6 Wireless is designed to support real-world situations where scalable wired security is needed. Firebox SOHO Wireless models support up to 4 wired devices in addition to the physically separate wireless connection through the integrated WAP.

Q: How is setting up a wireless firewall different from a wired firewall setup?
A:
When it comes to connecting a PC or peripheral equipment to your Firebox® SOHO 6 Wireless model, it's a plug-and-play setup, just as with Firebox® SOHO 6 models. In addition, you configure the Wireless Access Port (WAP) so that it identifies the wireless card you have installed in the system you will use for wireless networking.

Q: What wireless security solutions does WatchGuard currently offer?
A:
WatchGuard offers the ability to secure and separate wireless networks for both telecommuters and corporate environments with Firebox® SOHO 6 Wireless models. Firebox® SOHO 6 model customers can add our VPNforce™ Port Upgrade option that enforces IPSec mobile user VPN connections for wireless users.

Q: What are the biggest concerns facing businesses today in regard to wireless security?
A:
The biggest fear of companies right now is the unknown -- what threats does wireless really present? In reality, wireless presents many of the same challenges as securing remote clients over the Internet, such as shared media (wireless and cable), end-to-end security, and user authentication. Properly implemented, wireless is no more or less secure than remote Internet access. The biggest challenge within the corporate environment is unauthorized use of wireless networks.

Q: What are the key challenges with wireless security solutions today?
A:
Today's key challenges are unauthorized use, and proper enforcement of security policy. Since equipment costs are negligible, it is easy and cheap to put in a stealthy wireless LAN. With proper policy in place, wireless can become a useful addition to the wired network.

Q: What is the 802.11b standard?
A:
802.11b is a specification for wireless local area network (WLAN) communications, and uses the Ethernet protocol and CSMA/CA (carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance) for path sharing. The modulation method selected for 802.11b allows higher data speeds and is less susceptible to multipath-propagation interference.

Q: How many Branch Office and Mobile User VPN tunnels come with a Firebox® SOHO 6 Wireless appliance?
A:
Firebox® SOHO 6tc Wireless comes with 10 Branch Office VPN tunnels; Branch Office VPN is optional for Firebox® SOHO 6 Wireless. Both wireless models include one external Mobile User VPN license.

Q: Do Firebox® SOHO 6 Wireless models allow Web content filtering?
A:
Yes. WatchGuard WebBlocker lets you control Web site access privileges through a simple point-and-click interface. Filtering is transparent to users and requires no additional client software or configuration.

Q: What add-on options are available for Firebox® SOHO 6 Wireless?
A:
