Q: What is the LiveSecurity® Service?
A:
The LiveSecurity Service is a personalized security update, alert, support and training service that enables you to conveniently maintain the highest level of security for your network all day, every day. Every WatchGuard Firebox® X, Firebox® SOHO 6, and SOHO 6 Wireless product includes a 90-day subscription, renewable in one- or two-year increments.

Q: What are the key benefits of the LiveSecurity® Service?
A:
You get your own personalized LiveSecurity Service Web site that contains all of the resources you need to confidently ensure that your defenses are current. You can be secure in the knowledge that WatchGuard experts are watching the Web for threats that affect your network, and you'll receive alerts, advice, and software updates that keep your security solution up-to-date.

Q: What does my subscription include?
A:
Your LiveSecurity Service subscription includes:

  • Security software updates
  • Threat responses to emerging issues
  • Virus alerts
  • Timely security alerts and news
  • Access to technical support resources
  • Tech tips and training for your WatchGuard products

Q: In what languages is the LiveSecurity® Service offered?
A:
The LiveSecurity Service is currently available in English and Japanese. Additional languages are under consideration for addition in the future.

How is WatchGuard able to keep track of new security threats?

WatchGuard's dedicated group of security experts monitor many sources of security information so that you don't have to. The Rapid Response Team's only job is to identify new threats, determine an appropriate response and transmit the results to you. The WatchGuard LiveSecurity Advisory Council, composed of leading security consultants, oversees and contributes advisory content on emerging security issues.

Q: How do subscribers receive LiveSecurity® Service communications?

The central source for security information is the personal LiveSecurity Service Web site made available to every subscriber. This site is continually updated to reflect the latest news and vulnerabilities. Additionally, the LiveSecurity Service publishes emergency alerts and software upgrades when there is a threat serious enough to warrant immediate action.

Q: What kinds of information are on the site?

Every site is a secure and customizable resource that gives you the tools you need to keep your network secure. The LiveSecurity Service Web site gives you:

  • Alerts on new threats and viruses
  • Editorials and analysis from industry experts
  • Current version software for your entire WatchGuard security system
  • Technical tips and "How To" columns on using your WatchGuard products
  • Access to comprehensive support resources
  • Access to online security tools and services
  • Notification and the ability to renew subscriptions online

Q: How do I start my LiveSecurity® Service subscription?
A:
When you subscribe to the LiveSecurity Service, upgrades and support are included as part of your subscription - along with a host of other valuable services - so there are no hidden fees.

Q: Does the LiveSecurity® Service automatically update my Firebox® ?
A:
No. The LiveSecurity Service does not directly change your management or Firebox settings. You control your Firebox and updates at all times.

Q: Isn't this an expensive way to keep my WatchGuard product up-to-date?
A:
The LiveSecurity Service is the least expensive way to add dedicated security experts to your staff who are focused on keeping your network safe. We believe continual security is so crucial to any solution that all WatchGuard products come with 90 days of free service. The LiveSecurity Service also provides more gain for less cost than competitive products in the security space.

Q: Can't I get this information from other sources?
A:
There are plenty of other ways to get news and information about security threats, but LiveSecurity Service gives you the tools to act on threats before they affect your system. Our team of internal and outside experts produce analysis and context for the mass of new exploits announced every day, including software updates to address threats when appropriate. And we sift through that information to identify the real dangers to your network.

Q: Don't your competitors do the same thing?

Renewing Your LiveSecurity® Service Subscription

Q: How do I renew my subscription?
A:
You may purchase subscriptions from your local reseller or online in your LiveSecurity Service Web site. It's easy to locate an authorized WatchGuard reseller in your area using our reseller locator at www.watchguard.com/sales.

Q: How much do subscription renewals cost?
A:
Renewal costs vary depending upon the type of WatchGuard products that you own. Discounts are available for subscribers who are renewing more than one WatchGuard product or who renew for more than one year.

Q: Do subscribers who own multiple WatchGuard products need a LiveSecurity Service subscription for each one?
A:
Yes. Each WatchGuard product requires its own subscription. For example, if you own two Fireboxes you need two subscriptions.

Q: Is it possible to pay separately for software updates or technical support?
A:
No. These are critical components of any security solution, so WatchGuard bundles all of our support resources under the LiveSecurity Service. We do not charge individually for each service offered.

Q: What is LiveSecurity® Service Gold?
A:
LiveSecurity Service Gold is designed for companies that require a premium level of technical support.

Q: How does LiveSecurity® Service Gold support differ from WatchGuard's regular technical support?
A:
A LiveSecurity Service Gold subscription offers these support features:

  • 24/7 support
  • 1 hour response time
  • Unlimited access to support

Q: Are all WatchGuard products eligible for LiveSecurity® Service Gold?
A:
Firebox® X, Firebox® Vclass, Firebox® III, ServerLock® , and AppLock® /Web product owners can purchase a LiveSecurity Service Gold subscription. Standalone Firebox® SOHO 6 models and SOHO 6 Wireless models are not eligible for this program.

Q: How much does a LiveSecurity® Service Gold subscription cost?
A:
Prices vary depending upon the type of WatchGuard product being supported and the number of products under management. See the current WatchGuard price list for more details.
