WatchGuard is looking for a user interface designer to join our Web Communications team. This role reports to the Web Communications Director and is responsible for all aspects of user experience design, including interaction design, visual design, information architecture and usability for customer-facing web sites and web-based applications.
Scope of Responsibility
- Apply user-centered design processes to create relevant, high-quality user interfaces
- Interact with product management, marketing, information technology and engineering teams to support product launches and marketing programs
- Create visual design and information design templates for multiple levels of site hierarchy
- Lead task flow analysis and UI walk-throughs with business and technical team members
- Produce prototypes and detailed user interface specifications
- Keep skills and knowledge up-to-date in fields of human-computer interaction, interaction design, visual design and information architecture
Education, Knowledge, Skills, Certifications/ Licenses, Competencies
- Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent work experience
- At least four years experience in user interaction design and information architecture for web sites in a software development environment
- At least three years experience designing for template-based, data-driven web sites or web applications
- Ability to understand and translate business requirements into compelling user experiences
- Practical understanding of designing for a world wide audience, including content and design considerations to support localization and internationalization
- Strongly grounded in principles of visual design, information design, composition, color and typography for web-based communications
- Ability to learn and understand technical network security concepts that are important to the customer
- Expert in use of design and prototyping tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator/Freehand, Dreamweaver, Homesite and Flash
- Strong experience with standards-based CSS as it relates to information design
- Must provide portfolio examples of relevant interaction design work and written specifications.
Unique Physical Requirements
Position primarily works in an office environment. Use of computer display terminal required. Some bending and lifting may be required.
