VoIP resource page is an excellent start
I am tempted to describe Dave Piscitello as "the Stephen King of online IT resources." Lately, he has been cranking out a prodigious amount of work reminiscent of Stephen King's four-novels-a-year pace. And, like Mr. King, Dave's offerings hit more often than they miss.
His latest contribution: a one-stop resource for learning about Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and all that it implies about network security. His article round-up is unmatched in quality, including links to such venerable network architects as Joel Snyder. Heck, I learned stuff about VoIP simply by reading Dave's Index page! (I'd never heard of SPIT: Spam over Internet Telephony.)
Where the comparison with Stephen King breaks down is that Dave is not one to inspire unnecessary terror. His perspective is consistently reasonable and balanced, frank where alarm is appropriate, practical and reassuring where threats are not real. He points the way to the more trustworthy voices on each IT issue. And unlike Mr. King, Dave is rapidly filling up my browser's Favorites list.
If you are considering a VoIP initiative on your network, you can get off to a great start by checking out Dave's VoIP Security Resources page. -- Scott Pinzon
