Two Critical Microsoft Updates for April

8 May, 2010 -- Next Tuesday's patch day looks light, with only two Critical Microsoft Security Bulletins

According to their Advance Notification, Microsoft will release one Windows and one Office security bulletin on Tuesday, May 11. Microsoft rates both as critical, so you should plan to download, test, and install them as soon as you can. That said, two bulletins should be a breeze compared to last month's eleven.

Speaking of last month, the original patch Microsoft released for the Windows 2000 Media Services vulnerability (MS10-025) did not work, as we mentioned in this Wire post. They have since re-issued the patch. If you have Windows 2000 computers, you'll want to go get the update again.

We'll know more about Microsoft bulletins next Tuesday, and will publish alerts about them via LiveSecurity and LiveSecurity Informer. -- Corey Nachreiner, CISSP
